Plain-English definitions for the terminology used across Coach's Corner.
- Asian Handicap
- A spread bet that removes the draw and uses half‑goal lines to give both teams an equal chance.
- Bankroll Management
- The practice of setting a budget for betting and only risking a small portion of it on each wager.
- Bet Builder
- An online tool that allows you to combine multiple outcomes from a single match into one custom wager.
- Both Teams to Score
- A wager on whether each side will score at least one goal during the match.
- Cash Out
- A feature that lets you settle a bet before the event ends, locking in a profit or limiting a loss.
- Cashback
- A promotion that returns a portion of your losses as a bonus, usually with wagering attached.
- Double Chance
- A bet that covers two of the three possible match results (win/draw, draw/lose, etc.) in one wager.
- Edge
- The statistical advantage a bettor has over the sportsbook, often expressed as a percentage.
- Free Bet
- A token provided by the sportsbook that you can use to place a bet without using your own money.
- Futures
- A bet placed on an event that will be decided in the future, such as who will win the World Cup.
- Juice
- The commission the sportsbook charges for taking a bet, built into the odds.
- Live Betting
- Betting on a match while it is in progress, with odds that change as the game unfolds.
- Moneyline
- A bet on which team will win a match outright, with odds shown as a positive or negative number.
- Odds Boost
- A promotion that increases the odds on a particular selection, giving you a higher potential payout.
- Over/Under
- A bet on whether the total number of goals scored in a match will be higher or lower than a set figure.
- Parlay
- A single bet that links two or more selections; all must win for the bet to pay out.
- Prop Bet
- A wager on a specific occurrence within a match, like which player scores first or how many cards are shown.
- Provably Fair
- A system that lets players verify that each game result was generated fairly, using math that proves the outcome is random.
- RTP
- RTP stands for the percentage of total bets a game returns to players over time, expressed as a number between 0% and 100%.
- Spread
- A handicap given to the favorite team to level the betting field, expressed as a number of goals.
- Unit
- A standard amount of money used to size bets, typically a small fraction of your total bankroll.
- Value Bet
- A bet where the odds offered are higher than the true probability of the outcome, giving you an edge.
- Volatility
- Describes how often and how much a game can pay out; high volatility means bigger but rarer wins.
- Wagering Requirement
- A condition that says how many times you must bet your bonus or deposit amount before you can withdraw any winnings.
